“The Hunted” & “Hole in the Sky” Recap – Voltron: Legendary Defender

By: Justin Cummings

Justin Cummings, Delaney Stovall, and Hayley Habuurs recap the 3rd and 4th episodes of Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 3, “The Hunted” and “Hole in the Sky”.

I'm currently studying Communication at Lynchburg College with an emphasis in Electronic Media and a double minor in business and gender studies. I've been a huge fan of animation since I was little and thus have very eclectic tastes. Outside of animation I love Survivor, comic books, and a whole treasure trove of other things.

I’m genuinely baffled you guys didn’t mention space Kuvira…knight templar, prominent eyebrows, mole, voiced by Zelda Williams.Or Sven jumping infront of Lance and needing to go to the space hospital XD

Why are you guys confused about the sonar?

Yeah not sure I’d call anything in episode 4 especially narratively complex in general or even the best of the series. As Delaney said, it just touched on a LOT of concepts in a superficial way. This is opposed to when the show doesn’t do it at all, so I can say this is the most it’s ever attempted at once in terms of morality and how far people go but it didn’t do it successfully enough to me. I like AU/alternate universe episodes a lot actually, it’s the sci-fi nerd in me. So I supposed I immediately had high expectations too. BUT I’m still so so happy this episode is great for introducing the concept of alternate reality. The possibilities are endless now.

I was higher on episode 3 than 4 I guess because I wasn’t let down as much. I expected ‘team bonding’ and I got more Allura stuff than I expected so I was happy. And I definitely agree that it’s better than season 2 at this point, that season really killed my love for the show. I found season 1 fun at the very least, though not as well paced as the current season, I’m gonna wait until we get the back half of the season before I make any final decisions.

I’m calling it Lotor’s comet exclusively now by the way, you all did this.

It was definitely a fun episode though, Sven and his ‘yoohoo’ is a highlight for the whole season probably.

Also #Shlav is canon it’s real. Or Svlav? I’m still on the lookout for him this season or any mention of him.

I guess Keith is the Allura of this season, making all the bone head mistake. It is not even he fell into Lotor’s trap, Lotor wasn’t even trying to set a trap, he was just doing a recon mission, and Keith had to follow him and set a trap on the fly.
