Total Drama Review Week 44: Get a Clue

By: Justin Cummings

I absolutely adore this episode. Lindsey excels in what is possibly her best episode, and Harold has some of his best jokes. It also is a really good character episode in general, with all of the final five shining bright.

To start, let’s look at the challenges. The hidden thumb drive was a cool way to start, and set the tone nicely for the rest of the episode of hidden challenges. Lindsey’s underground idea wasn’t all that bad, despite everyone mocking her for it. The use of the safe set again was very clever as well, and this entire first section was great. Then, in the most traditional challenge, the DNA collection, which should have been boring, had some of the best slapstick comedy of the season. Poor Lindsey just couldn’t catch a break, while Harold was borderline genius. Courtney’s constant whining about a prize was hilarious and really fit her character arc well.

Finally, we have the twist. Everyone is left trying to solve the mystery of who killed Chris, and we get some great interaction. Duncan being arrested, Harold in general, Lindsey standing up to Courtney, all of it was great. The best moments though were Harold’s keyboard, and Lindsey’s chart as to why Courtney did it. It was a great final challenge for the episode, and Lindsey choosing Duncan just made the entire episode even better. She was cunning, cold, and brilliant. It’s a great final episode before the last big twist of the season.

I give this episode a 10/10, and I’ll see you all next week for “Rock and Rule.”

I'm currently studying Communication at Lynchburg College with an emphasis in Electronic Media and a double minor in business and gender studies. I've been a huge fan of animation since I was little and thus have very eclectic tastes. Outside of animation I love Survivor, comic books, and a whole treasure trove of other things.
