Total Drama Review Week 43: O-Win or Lose and The Princess Pride

By: Justin Cummings

After a brief break due to the insane recording of podcasts for Voltron season two lining up with my first week back at college, I’m doing the next two episodes of Total Drama.  Let’s start with our third aftermath episode.

We finally get some resolution to the captain Hollywood arc for Geoff, as well as some great moments from Owen, Leshawna, and Heather. Leshawna and Heather attempting to be friends is hilariously cringeworthy, especially on Heather’s part. The entire episode felt like they were ready to kill each other, but managed to somewhat stay calm. The real star though was Owen, who despite finding out that his parents had already gone into debt on a cheese cellar, was just happy he now had a cheese cellar. It was a sweet moment that showed that Owen has a good heart, a big stomach, and doesn’t keep grudges.

Geoff though, finally gets his kermupets. He goes in the electric chair and gets zapped enough that his ego subdues. Geoff is one of my favorite characters, and seeing him come out of this arc a much stronger person was one of my favorite parts of the season.  Beyond that, there’s not much to say about this episode.

“The Princess Pride” on the other hand, is one of my favorite episodes ever. I love Justin’s personality this season, and seeing him outdone  by Courtney was wonderful. Justin had been on a downhill slide ever since Courtney showed up, and this was the end of the power struggle for main antagonist. The fairy tale theme was very fun, and Beth truly shined alongside Courtney, Justin, and Duncan.

This will be the last episode we ever see Justin compete in, so farewell old friend. I give this episode a 9/10 and the last one a 7/10. See you all next week.

I'm currently studying Communication at Lynchburg College with an emphasis in Electronic Media and a double minor in business and gender studies. I've been a huge fan of animation since I was little and thus have very eclectic tastes. Outside of animation I love Survivor, comic books, and a whole treasure trove of other things.
