  1. Steven Pearce says:

Really two episodes glued together – not a Bismuth or Gem Harvest. Nevertheless very strong, despite the second half being a little cluttered, as if trying to get stuff out of the way before the finale.

Steven’s new (or expanded previously known) power might not be astral projection as such, but his access to an underlying gem structure developed by their makers (possibly perceived by Steven in metaphorical terms). I’m thinking of the gem software as a sort of Jungian collective consciousness … a theory which ticks both the ‘pretentious’ and ‘vague’ boxes!

Given recently (Jungle Moon) we had a pointed reminder that Yellow Diamond wipes out life on planets without any qualms, I doubt that the Diamonds and the Crystal Gems are going to be all pally now, despite the clips.

We didn’t see Yellow or Blue Pearl in ‘Reunited’. I’ve long had a belief they are going to be important in some way … if they fuse, will they form White Diamond?

In this episode they make it clear, when Steven goes to sleep to talk to the Cluster, that Steven’s possession, dreamwalking, and telepathy aren’t three individual powers, but different applications of one power: astral projection.

Thus, the dream space isn’t a new power, but an advanced form of an existing one.
