I love Steve’s theory that Salem is grooming Cinder as her next body, complete with all maiden powers. Brilliant! I’m not certain Cinder suspects it yet. Cinder may just think that she’s getting lots of power and will become Cinder’s main lieutenant. Salem will likely betray Cinder later and steal her body and powers.

Prior to hearing your show, I have also suspected that the Ozpin/Oscar transformation is a model for all soul transfers in the show — meaning the maidens. The host soul and the new spirit’s soul appear to be separate for a while, and then they slowly merge into a single entity. You can hear it in Ozpin’s voice this episode. Sometimes when he speaks, you can hear all of the past host souls talking in unison.

If this is true, then perhaps we better understand why Cinder is so messed up right now. She may be fighting an internal battle to keep control of her mind as the combined souls of the prior spring maidens fight to be dominant during the merge. Perhaps this is why she couldn’t talk for a while … both she and the spring maiden souls were fighting for control of her words. It definitely sounded like she was straining with intense effort to speak last episode.

There are so many possibilities if this plotline turns out to be true. We can have a struggle of Cinder vs. the Maidens for control of Cinder’s body. If Ruby kills Cinder, Ruby may be the last person in Cinder’s thoughts and inherit the powers. Then Ruby could be fighting an internal battle against Cinder for control of her own body. Or any number of other combinations. Fun speculation. We’ll see where it goes … by Season 9.

Very interesting this two souls thing applies to the maidens as well!! Yeah lot of potential plots from that.
