Genre Episodes (Steven Universe Roundtable #16) – Overly Animated Podcast #255

By: Justin Cummings

Justin Cummings and Michelle Anderer discuss different types of genre episodes in Steven Universe.

I'm currently studying Communication at Lynchburg College with an emphasis in Electronic Media and a double minor in business and gender studies. I've been a huge fan of animation since I was little and thus have very eclectic tastes. Outside of animation I love Survivor, comic books, and a whole treasure trove of other things.

Watermelon Island was kinda a kaiju genre episode when you think about it. Though, I suppose that’s not exactly a very large genre by itself. I can’t really think of any more genres I’d like to see them cover, but I would like to see maybe more art-shift episodes (kinda like Garnet’s Universe or The Answer) or even medium-shift episodes.

I like Ronaldo, but only because he’s the butt of a lot of jokes.

The characters in Gurren Lagann pronounce it sorta like “log on” or “law gone”.
