Starting to suspect this book will be about internalised homophobia in a (temporary) “one-sided” relationship. What if Ryan fell for Min-gi while on the train, and Min-gi already was in love? The line “i won’t leave you” seem to indicate that Ryan got his exist before Min-gi. There seems to be one scene though were Ryan’s number goes up to 202 again. Maybe Ryans number decreased because he convinced himself he was fine, but the train said “nOpe get back in here” and gave him the same number again because they’re both in love but handling their feelings in different ways. Here’s my take- Min-gi might be well aware of his feelings, wanting to confront them but scared to do so because he doesn’t want to lose Ryan. While Ryan on the other hand hides his feelings to the extent where he hates himself for even thinking about it. Maybe he’s trained himself for a long time now not to have these feelings because it’s socially unacceptable (internalized homophobia much eh?) and that’s why the numbers are so high, to begin with? Idk just a thought…
