I interpreted the shoe/money basketball scene as just a silly expectation subversion of “you thought these were just thugs/street jocks but they’re actually totally principled, woke, and proud folk to point of absurdity. Basically, “Hah, you thought we were going for a stereotype–but surprise!”
This show was pretty random. I like when Rick and Morty touch on some existential/nothing matters stuff. These last two episodes had much less than that. They feel sorta interchangeable with any episode. I hope there’s more meaningful stuff down the road. Awesome they got greenlit for so many episodes.
