There might be detailed fanart because a screenshot of that person was leaked all the way back on *Sunday*.

#drunkjustin, but he’s also fairly accurate.
I love Pearlmethyst, but I did not get those vibes from this episode. At best, I can maybe see a poly ship vibe. Which when combined with the LapiAmedot poly ship, the shipping charts are starting to get complicated.

It’s hard to imagine a children’s show doing something like this even 3 years ago. The progress Steven Universe had been able to push from where Korrasami moved line had been truly amazing.

    • Dylan Hysen says:

True! We didn’t even think to comment on this tonight, it’s so normal now!

    • Tyrone Wells Jr. says:

Yeah, I give Korra credit for having a main character be gay but it was confirmed so implicitly and so late that it was like blowing on the line rather than moving it. It’s played as a big reveal/confirmation but is done so ambiguously that it has so little impact. The thing I like about SU is that it doesn’t make it an event or even a focal point. It’s an afterthought. It’s not a big deal–and it never was. I think that’s the best way to do it.

A Pearl episode that is not depressing, didn’t that that was possible.

Anyone notice Pearl’s jacket, is that Vidalila’s old jacket? Speaking of Vidalila, poor Amethyst having her old cool friends acting like old people, they are humans they age, she is a gem that never ages.

You say the Mystery Girl looks like a character from another show, you know she reminds me of, Jem from Jem and the Holograms, I don’t know if you ever heard of it, it is a very old show.

I love the closing credits are well, this whole episode feels like an episode of FCLU.

8:10 Way to hit the nail on the head!

Dylan, on an energy level, I think you started at a “kid about to see his first a rocket ship launch” and ended on a “half empty bottle of mountain dew left in the fridge for a week.”

I get that it was just for sake of discourse, I mean, you have to counter points to stimulate good dialogue, but as a host, you gotta ride those waves of excitement, baby! If everyone is feeling the episode, revel in it for a while. It must be a hard balance, though, keeping up the excitement while still having a serious talk about the merits of the episode. But if everyone is excited you shouldn’t feel pressure to calm everyone down to analyze the narrative elements in a level-headed fashion. Maybe for the Listener Feedback follow up that could be great for that kind of review. But I’d like to see the same level of passion that you in had in keeping everyone jazzed about Voltron Boy or The Real Lars as you did for this ep or future ones. Or maybe a nap/cookie before recording, I know work can be a hard thing too!

    • Dylan Hysen says:

It really wasn’t an intentional thing. I didn’t plan on being super jazzed last week and this week I just happened to not have as much energy. Shrug, energy gonna fluctuate and so is reaction to episodes.

I host a radio show and found a big benefit eating a banana before I’m on air. Even when we’re talking about something I don’t like I feel charged the whole show. Might help. Plus bananas are great!

I think the word you were looking for at 22 min. about the opposite of jealousy might be “compersion”?
